What is Mediation

Solutions in parenting has a deep commitment to providing a full range of comprehensive assistance to families. As a result, we have developed a highly effective, solution-based approach to helping families resolve even their toughest conflicts from negotiating a contract between parents and their adolescents to creating a customized co-parenting agreement. Although we can custom-tailor mediation sessions to best meet the needs of our clients, we follow a standard model of mediation:

CONCLUSION

At the end of the mediation process, which ranges from one to six meetings, we will help you to document your agreement with either a Memorandum of Understanding, or can refer you to another collaborating party. If necessary, we will inform you how to obtain legal advice to convert your hard work into a legally binding agreement.

How it Works

We use our Bond-Strengthening® Philosophy coupled with extensive Mediation training and experience to promote emotionally healthy verbal skills, alternative conflict resolution skills and solution-based communication to direct the mediation process.

You Will:

  • Learn healthy and new relational dynamics
  • Create marital settlement agreements that feel fair and creative for married and unmarried partners
  • Stay out of Court and control your own process with a trained and neutral mediator
  • Work in a directed and supportive environment
  • Support navigating the divorce process, as well as after the divorce

How it Works

We use a theoretical framework to help our clients understand mediation and learn skills to apply in the future. We incorporate our training in marriage and family psychotherapy to provide expert, cutting-edge information regarding relational dynamics, child and adolescent development and human behavior. We consider mediation to be the first step to a healthier and more positive future for you and your children.

You Will:

  • Determine healthy child-sharing arrangements
  • Create fair and realistic child-sharing schedules
  • Learn effective bond-strengthening communication skills to establish a healthy and child-centered coparenting relationship
  • Learn how to successfully blend families
  • Learn how to explain separation and divorce to children of all ages
